Last Summer I refurbished a ton of furniture. It felt like non stop sanding, painting, staining from May – June. Last month I shared the Before & After of my $5 Coffee Table Find on Craigslist. This time I’m sharing our two refurbished dressers painted with homemade chalk finish paint (recipe at the bottom of the post).
My before pictures were deleted when my phone broke but I was able to find this before picture of the big dresser.
The second dresser was a similar color.
The hardware is all the original hardware spray painted with Oil Rubbed Bronze
For the second dresser I painted the base with the homemade chalk finish paint and stained the drawers. I randomly mixed a few stains together so I don’t know the exact color of the stain. The top knobs are the original knobs spray painted and the rest are new ones.

Chalk Finish Paint Recipe
3 parts paint – 1 part plaster – 1 part water
I mixed 1 1/2 cups of paint, 1/2 cup of plaster and 1/2 cup of water.
Mix the Plaster of Paris and water together. Stir until all of the clumps are out. Then add the latex paint and mix until combined.
Saw this post linked up at the Creatively Crafty link party and had to come visit. This dresser looks so nice when white! I’m going to use your recipe for chalk paint and give it a try on my bedside table!
Thanks for stopping by! I would love to hear what you think of the recipe once you try it!
